So thanks to the new show Extreme Couponing it seems as if this is all anyone talks about these days. I love to find great coupons, any little bit helps especially with a baby. But as I’m making my grocery list today and searching for coupons on products we might need, I have come across a few posts that honestly annoy me. I love a good…make that fantastic deal just as much as anyone else but just because something is free doesn’t mean you should take ALL of the items. I found a post today where a certain product was free so the person bought the entire display of 200!! Ummm what about leaving this awesome deal for someone else to enjoy? I know it is amazing to score a great deal but when you completely buy out the store you eliminate the chance of anyone else scoring this deal and to me its not only rude its greedy.
Its people like this that make couponing agrivating and more like a hassle. The ones that rush in when they hear of a great deal and buy up the entire store, or take all the coupons off the tearpads or take all the peelies off items. Once again it reminds me that no one in the world really cares about anyone else, its all about what you get and how you benefit. And yes, it should be that way…to a point. Being greedy over coupons is stupid in my opinion. Maybe I’m too nice of a person but I like to share with others when I can, I like to think of others and help others when I can. Lately I have seen people actually fight over items all thanks to how cheap it is with a coupon…*sigh*
I’m not one that goes through a coupon book and saves every awesome coupon I can find. I look for items we use and then I look for different brands of items we use to see if I might could save a little that way. But for items we have no use for such as coffee, pet food, formula that my daughter can’t drink, etc I have no use for those and I’m sure not going to go buy something just because its 20 cents or free or anything like that. Why buy items I don’t need just to say I had the thrill of a great sale? I would rather pass along the coupons to someone that actually does need them.
I have come to dread shopping. Times are hard and everything is so expensive. I pay for a newspaper only for the coupons and then three weeks in a row no coupons are in the paper. That is frustrating because I’ll read about someone finding a great deal using a certain coupon from PG or SS or RP coupon book in the past weeks paper but I never got those coupons. Plus there are never any for items we need the most…baby items. Yep, those people on Extreme Couponing do an awesome job but I don’t see them buying diapers or baby formula that costs $20 a can 🙂
If you love couponing that’s great, if its your hobby that’s awesome I’ll send you my leftovers but why not let everyone have a chance at a great deal instead of buying out the store?
Did that person really do that? Thats not nice! Wish you a lovely afternoon
Kisses
Ps: I am hosting a great home decor GIVEAWAY today, so please join in 🙂
I have been an avid couponer for years and continually get annoyed at couponers who clean the shelves as well. Nothing makes me more angry than walking into the store and not finding a single item of what I am looking for only to hear from an employee that a customer bought 40 of the item I am looking for. I think that it is just common courtesy to leave some stock for others.
I have begun to dread shopping too. I rush to the store (which is 45 mins away) with 2 kids in tow and find the shelves cleared. I have never cleared a shelf, except for when there was ONE item left. People like that make me so frustrated!!
I am the same way with papers. I have gotten in the habit of makng sure there is coupons in the paper by going through the paper before I buy it. I might get some stares, but I am planning on buying the paper. That way I don’t waste $5.
How did you ladies get into the whole coupon thing? I’ve heard it requires some skill with all of the organizing that goes into it. Is there a website that you would recommend or a place to start?
ahhh greedy people are everywhere. I hope everyone gets the chance to score great deals and during these times we all need to learn how to share.
But let’s not forget that if the shelf is cleared you can USUALLY get a rain check… if I have a coupon and it was a great sale and I KNOW I will use the item, I always ask for a raincheck. Then you can come back at your leisure and get the items you want the following week.
I also think it’s rude for people to buy things out just to get a deal.
I have to say I still do enjoy shopping maybe b/c I haven’t had such terrible experiences, and also I don’t use coupons for everything b/c I buy mostly organic and there are hardly EVER coupons or sales on that stuff (unless you check clearance! haha).
The reason there were no coupons lately is there are none on holiday weekends. You should have gotten coupons on the first sunday in january. At my local store there is a lady that steals them out of the papers! So if you buy it at the store check for the inserts before you take it home. I completely agree with you on the greed, hoarding and leaving some for others. I love to stock up and buy a sale but lately I can’t even get 1 of something! It seems with the internet it’s easier for everyone to coupon and find a deal which is great, though it makes it harder to find one because of grabbers.
I’m following you via the Sunday STroll…
please give me a follow back.
