This weekend has been so rainy and blah that I decided to take a few moments and edit a couple of pictures from last weekend. Last weekend was so pretty! Spring had definitely arrived, the flowers were in bloom and it was a warm 82 degrees, bright blue skies and just a wonderful time to enjoy being outside. For the past two weeks we had been trying to plan a trip to Wye Mountain for the Daffodil Festival with my sister, her hubby and my niece. My sister had taken my niece Emily to Wye Mountain two years ago but I had never been nor had I taken Abby. I have looked up Wye Mountain online and on Facebook and the pictures are so stunning, I really wanted to be able to take Abby up there this year.
We honestly had planned to go this weekend but middle of last week, we started noticing posts on the Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival Facebook Page that the flowers were starting to wilt due to the heat (its middle of March and we had temps already in the 80s. Sure enough, by the middle of this week about 90% of the field had wilted/died). Hubby had to work Saturday but we quickly made a last minute decision to go on Sunday, we simply didn’t want to take the chance of missing out. We planned for early afternoon…and of course we were running late. That’s just what happens when you have a little one.
We finally got there (about an hour drive from home but the directions were easy to follow) and wow! the field was packed! The parking was insane but luckily my sister was saving a spot for us right beside them. We quickly got Abby changed and headed out into the field. We actually didn’t have to go too far in, we found a nice little spot with plenty of flowers and not so many people (those taking more professional pictures were aiming for the locations with an abundance of flowers where as we were happy with what we found). Abby was completely fascinated with the flowers from the minute I sat her down…and yes, tried to eat the flowers, the grass, the dirt lol she tried to eat pretty much everything.
It was such a fun day! It was so nice to be outside, to see the beautiful field of flowers and to enjoy time with my sister, BIL and niece. I know Abby had alot of fun, she adores being outside and we just sat her down and let her have fun. Here are a few pictures from our day:

The pictures of Abby and Emily could easily be pictures of me and my sister when we were younger. The girls had so much fun and it was a wonderful day. I have tons of pictures! I just didn’t want to overload my blog with them lol we have quite a few candid ones that cause us to get the giggles every time we look at them. Its memories like these that I cherish and love to look back on. I can’t wait for the warm weather to return (yep, 80s last weekend…40s this weekend) so we can get back outside and have more fun. I hope you all enjoyed the pictures 🙂
Fantastic pictures! You should turn the first one into a poster. It is so sweet! So glad you made it before it was too late!
