I am such a huge advocate for family movie night. We do this almost weekly at our house. It is a great way to spend quality time with your children and do something that everyone enjoys. It’s also a very inexpensive alternative to going out. The Christmas version is a bit different in that it is a special occasion and deserves some special attention!
We have each family member choose their favorite Christmas movie and watch one movie a week throughout December. We make note on the calendar and that brings added excitement to their special date. We bake up a special Christmas treat such as brownies with peppermint icing or sugar cookies with holiday sprinkles. We also fix up some yummy hot chocolate and bundle up together on the couch.
After each movie, we have the person who chose the movie talk to us about why they chose it and what makes it so special to them. With the glow of the Christmas tree and the festive treats, it is a fun time for the whole family to enjoy.
We began this tradition last year and my children have been begging to start our Christmas edition of movie night for weeks. They are beginning to narrow down their choices to the movie they will choose and the calendar is filling up with fun. I would encourage all families to try this activity because it is sure to be one your children will anticipate for many years to come.

My 3 year old son is OBSESSED with The Polar Express. As a birthday/Christmas present we bought tickets for us to drive to Branson, MO to ride the PE. It was a blast!! Santa gave him a PE bell and even signed his PE book! Maybe we’ll do it again next year!
