With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about what you may want to give the little ones in your life. As a mom of three kids, there have been many years that I have waited until the very last minute and ended up buying stuffed animals and candy that are really just things that have no sentimental value. Instead of giving my children something just so they will have a gift, I have decided to only give them things that are truly special.
One great idea that I plan on doing this year is to create a love book for each of my children. By using one of the many photography websites available I can create a very special book that is unique to each child that they can treasure for years to come. If your children are anything like mine, they love to read, and to have a book with their pictures and special words from Mommy and Daddy is sure to be a treasured gift.
Another idea is to plan a special date night. Maybe create a card that shows all you have planned and even wrap up the tickets to the movie or a special necklace to wear on her special date night.
My husband did this last year with my daughter and she still talks about how fun it was. She was able to get all dressed up and pick her favorite restaurant. They had dinner and then she got to pick one store to go to get a prize. She of course, chose a toy store and a paper doll kit! After shopping they went to a movie and just really enjoyed the time with just the two of them.
Now that our son is older, I plan to do the same thing with him as a Mommy and son date night. I have a feeling our date night may be a little more adventurous. Whatever you choose to do with your child, whether small or extravagant, what is most important is to make sure your child knows just how much they are loved.

Loved the idea of father-daughter, mother-son date.
I think I’ll do that with my kids this Valentine.
Valentines is about love (not just a romantic love). I think that loving each other is a great value we should pass to our kids.
I love to give little love tokens for my close friends and family and if I have enough time – make little gifts with my kids to their class mates.
Happy Valentine’s Day
