This is a sweet and simple activity that is sure to be a great gift for anyone on Valentine’s Day. I am using these as gifts for my husband from the kids but these would be great to make in school or church to give as parent or grandparent gifts.
Items needed:
- Printed out copy of poem
- Washable paint in color of your choice (I chose red for Valentine’s Day)
- Construction paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Print out poem below in the font and size of your choice.
- Make sure to change name and date to your child. If your child is old enough to write leave the name off and allow them to write their own name on the bottom.
- Paint child’s handprints and place on paper around the poem.
- Cut out hearts in different colors using construction paper and glue around the paper.
- Back with a darker piece of paper to make stand out. (I used black.)

My note: Oh my gosh, I love this idea! This is so sweet and it would be something really sweet to help Abby make for her daddy! A huge thank you to Gillian for sharing this wonderful craft project!
This is too cute! Thinking I’ll have my not-quite-1 year-old “make” this for me this year. 🙂
Very cute. Making this for my husband this year for Valentine’s Day with our daughters help. One tip: post a link to a copy-able poem. You have copy/paste disabled on your site & it would make things a lot easier. Thx.
great tip Jenn! Thanks for letting me know. I’m going to fix it so you can copy/paste until I can create a copy-able version to link to. Short on time right now and I know many are working on Valentine’s Day crafts.
This is a great idea, I will definately do this with my grandchildren and four other kids that I babysit.
I hope you all had fun with this craft!

This is not only a great Valentine idea for my pre-school class it is a great Mother’s Day or Father’s Day idea for them as well. I can make a choice of when to use it. Either way it would be perfect.
Thanks so much
