Today was the first day of Spring! I have seen numerous bloggers post about the first of Spring, saying things like “Spring has finally arrived” but all I can think of is that Spring pretty much has been around here since mid February lol. Warmer temps arrived ahead of schedule, temps even warming a little too much and killing the daffodils early during the Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival. My sister and I had planned to take the girls this past weekend, it was the last weekend of the festival and we hoped to get cute pictures of them together as we did last year.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature somewhat ruined our plans. The flowers were pretty much all gone thanks to the unseasonably warm weather. We decided not to even make the hour drive, a slight disappointment but nothing to worry about. We know we’ll have plenty more opportunities to get pictures of the girls together, especially now that it’s warm. We just won’t get to visit Wye Mountain for the daffodils until next year.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Spring! The gorgeous flowers blooming, all the color returning, the warmer weather, it’s my favorite time of year. But for us, the arrival of Spring also means the arrival of Tornado Season. Today, the first day of Spring, brought stormy weather…just as it does every year. Needless to say, I have been in slight panic mode today as the storms rolled in. Can we just skip to June? I promise not to complain about the miserable, unbearable heat if we can just skip the tornadoes. *sigh*
Before the rain moved in we did enjoy sitting outside, the wind picked up as the clouds rolled in and it was nice to enjoy being outside. Abby had a total blast as she usually does when outside playing 🙂 She absolutely adores the Cozy Coupe her Grumpy and Nana got her for her birthday! She also seems to loves my Dr. Pepper! Silly girl lol And if you’re wondering why we made her keep her car on the porch, it’s because the ground was wet and she still demands to have the car in the house. Yes, she LOVES her car and not only wants to drive it outside but also in my house which means, for now, no muddy tires! Eventually it will become an outside only toy but since she just got it, I don’t mind her playing with it inside too.
