For us, there’s nothing better than doing things together as a family! No matter whether it’s playing ball in the front yard, going for wagon walks, going to the zoo or just going for a walk at the park to feed the ducks, we love to do things as a family to stay active and create special memories. I even made it a goal for this year to try to get out and do something together at least once a week, more if possible (with hubby’s work schedule it can sometimes be difficult). Taking time out for family time, enjoying time together and just having fun does so much to help improve our lives. There’s so much stress to deal with so it’s wonderful to just set all that aside and run around the yard giggling as we play chase with Abby. Enjoying family time in the evenings help us de-stress, it improves our moods and clears our minds, it re-energizes us plus it’s a super fun way to get active and exercise!
Now that Spring has arrived bringing beautiful warm weather, we can finally enjoy all our favorite outside activities. We love going to the park, hiking Pinnacle Mountain, going for wagon rides and just playing in the yard. Abby especially loves to go to the park and feed the ducks!
We also like to meet up with my sister, brother-in-law and niece to enjoy a fun afternoon with them. We actually met up with them last weekend for a fun Easter photo shoot at this beautiful garden none of us even knew existed around here. The girls love spending time together and they got to see the pretty swan and run across all the little bridges. They also had fun picking flowers for us! Really, there’s nothing better than getting outside and enjoying the beautiful, sunny weather together.
With my love for family time, I was delighted when given the opportunity to share Together Counts with you. Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. The principle behind our program is Energy Balance, which means balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn.
Together Counts was started by The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, and it is a national, multi-year effort designed to help reduce obesity (especially among children) by 2015. It’s a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 195 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional sports organizations. The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation promotes ways to help people achieve a healthy weight through energy balance–calories in and calories out. It focuses on three critical areas–the marketplace, the workplace and schools. Together Counts wants to encourage families to eat balanced meals together. You can still enjoy sweet treats but they want you to eat them in moderation. This is truly a fantastic program!
The Together Counts website is a wonderful place to find tips for healthy living. You can also take the pledge to live a more active and healthier lifestyle together with your family.
I want to encourage you to visit Together Counts website and take the pledge for a healthier lifestyle with your family. No excuses! Now that Spring is here with Summer well on it’s way, it’s the perfect time!

I love this Together Counts idea. I spent lots of time when my husband traveled dragging my kids to outdoor activities.
