I can’t believe it’s already late Sunday night, where did my weekend go? I didn’t even really do that much yet I like the weekend flew by as if I was super busy. Don’t you just hate when that happens! Friday was actually slightly busy for us, we met a friend at the duck pond to take a few pictures of Abby. My friend is a local photographer and still working to build her portfolio, since Abby has a stack of hair accessories to model we decided to get together for a fun little shoot. Unfortunately, we got there a little early (lol totally out of character for us! we are always running behind for some reason) so hubby let Abby play on the little playground. She loved the slides and was having a total blast…so much fun that she got quite upset when my friend arrived and it was time for pictures. *sigh* needless to say, the shoot did not go all that well…I’m just hoping my friend was able to get a few great shots she can use. All that really matters is Abby had fun and we had fun spending time together. One thing for sure, I have a feeling we will be heading to that park more often now. Good thing it’s pretty close to home. *I know her outfit seems odd, we were doing a photoshoot with a cute pettiskirt and we didn’t want her to get the skirt dirty as she played.
Since we had rain moving in for Saturday morning I decided to cancel going to any yard sales. Sure, I’m one of the crazy ones that will brave a little rain to go scout out yard sales but this weekend I just felt drained so I decided to sleep in. Just my luck, I decide to sleep in and my neighbor decided that 7am was the perfect time to start hammering away on something. I mean…come on…seriously!? 7am on a Saturday morning while it’s raining!? Lucky for me the rain did cause the hammering to stop for a few hours but unlucky for hubby, it managed to wake Abby up. They started the day bright and early, good thing I have several episodes of Doc McStuffins recorded with the DVR. I’m thankful hubby let me get a few more hours of sleep, I definitely needed it. I woke up about the time Abby went down for a nap so I could take my time starting my day. Then it was off to Walmart and the meat market for a few random groceries (and a new ball for Abby, she has so many balls yet still manages to get a new one lol). Walmart was a nightmare, big surprise there…it was Saturday and the day before Mother’s Day. One of these days I will learn to go to Walmart during the early morning on a weekday!
Once we finally made it home I decided it was time to tackle Abby’s room. I just could not deal with the clutter anymore. Plus her new toy box arrived on Thursday so it’s been sitting (along with the massive box it arrived in) in my living room making it quite difficult to get around. It was driving me crazy so I went to work, I rearranged her bookcase and dragged the toy box to it’s new location, even got hubby to finally put up the shelf I got for her room around this time last year (and yes, still unpainted. I will get to that one of these days). I even moved around her toys in the living room/den area, moving the toy kitchen to her bedroom and the train table to a new location. Then set up her play tent and bookcase for a little reading nook in the den area (it’s more like a play area for her, we don’t use it for anything else). I have no idea where my huge burst of energy came from but I wish it had lasted longer. Actually, I ran out of time before I ran out of steam…bedtime was sneaking up on me. But at least I got her room started, tackled her laundry and got some of the clutter put away. I figure I’ll work more tomorrow and throughout the week. I really want to change up her room decor, she’s a toddler now and about to move to her toddler bed. I thought it would be nice to have new, big girl bedding. I’m just having a hard time deciding on something. Hubby of course wants to stick with pink and brown where as I want something bright and fun. Her room always seems so dark and blah, I want something to help brighten it up for her. He keeps vetoing my choices but here are a few of my favorites:
the Minnie Mouse is probably my least favorite choice but I know it would be Abby’s first pick. I think it’s adorable but at this age, favorite characters can change so quickly and I hate to do something so particular like Minnie Mouse only for Abby to no longer like her in a couple of months. I figure I could do another cute theme but without a dominate character for now and when Abby is a little older she can pick out whatever she wants. I don’t know, right now it’s all still up in the air. I just know I want my child to have a real room for once. I never got to decorate her nursery, she’s never had all the cute decor and fixed up room like so many other moms create for their newborns. Don’t get me wrong, I fully intended for her to have an adorable room and even had her first room painted pink. Then shortly after she was born we had to move. Once we moved to base I did manage to hang up several cute pictures but never any of the actual decor…then we moved again…and then again. Most of all the cute decor still sits in packed boxes and her room just a plain little room. I think it’s about time, now that we seem to be settled for a bit, that she has her own room and own little space with some personality instead of just four blank, blah walls. I have big ideas! For now though, I think it’s time to get a little sleep before Monday morning creeps up on me!
