Going to Walmart with Abby is more often a nightmare than a simple shopping trip but since we usually go when we are already out running errands, we tend to always have her with us. Hubby has started taking her to look at the fish while I knock out some of the shopping without her help. Well, unbeknownst to me he has been promising to get her a fish so when we went for a quick trip the other night he decided to live up to his promise. You might be thinking that we already have everything needed for a fish since he’s been promising her one…nope, not a thing. For some reason, since she loves the fish he has promised her one (and he swears she doesn’t have him wrapped around her little finger). He has no intention of the fish living very long, he figures after one night with our toddler the fish would be happy to escape so he picks her out a little .28 cent goldfish and she is now the proud owner of her very own fish.
To say she was ecstatic would be an understatement, she was nonstop giggling and talking to her fish as we left the store, in the car on the way home and while fish was in his bag on the table (while I had to search for a new home for it). She, being a toddler, poked the bag a little too hard and scared the poor fish a little too much but somehow fish made it through the night…and the next night…well that was Friday night and fish is still happily swimming around in his bowl. He even survived Abby trying to share her steak with him last night, she figured fish wanted steak for dinner as well. Like it or not, it looks like we are now the proud owners of a fish because this one fits in perfectly with us, he’s stubborn as can be! He’s just right for our stubborn little girl.
Now I guess I should name the silly thing so I can stop calling him “fish”.
