Remember back before you were married, dating was exciting and fun. You would get all dressed up to impress your date. The anticipation of the knock on the door and the first smell of his cologne was enough to make your toes curl. What happened? Marriage, jobs and kids took over! It’s time to take back your dating life. For couples with young children it can be a challenge. The hourly rate for babysitting is astronomical and going out is not cheap either. Here are some ways to date your sweetie at home after the kids are tucked away in bed for the night.
- Have a picnic in the living room. Cook a dinner for two or pick up carry out and maybe prepare chocolate covered strawberries for your special date. Put a tablecloth out on the floor, light a candle or two and perhaps open a bottle of wine.
- Movie night at home. Pick your movie, a romantic comedy or a thriller, pop some popcorn to share, grab a throw to share and cuddle up on the couch to watch the movie together.
- Cook a meal together. Agree on a recipe and make sure you have all the ingredients in advance. Be brave, pick a recipe you have never tried. You will be surprised how much fun you will have!
These are just a few date night ideas. The key is spending time together to keep the spark alive.

I love a picnic in the living room. One of my favorite things to do
Instead of cooking a meal together, I would like my husband to cook for me!
