Abby suddenly has a fascination with band-aids. In the past she was never a big fan of having to put one on but not anymore! Now suddenly every teeny, tiny boo boo absolutely must have a band-aid! Not only that but she must put the band aid on herself and usually it only stays on for about 10 minutes so then she’s crying because her boo boo needs another band aid. I love that she wants to protect her cuts/scrapes and keep them clean but when there seriously isn’t even a boo boo… her demanding to have a band-aid often drives her daddy crazy.
Now that she loves band-aids I have learned to avoid that aisle at the store. Unfortunately, my contact solution is kept on the other end of the very short aisle so we often find ourselves sitting right beside all the pretty band-aid boxes. She always has to pick them out herself… from Cars to Mickey, Princess to Pony, our variety of band aids is quite colorful and fun. Poor hubby even had a Hello Kitty one on the other day! 🙂
As long as it makes her happy I don’t have a problem with it, it helps her learn to protect her real cuts and scrapes, helps her learn that we must keep them clean, doctored and covered and it also makes her feel independent when she gets to pick her band-aid out herself and put it on herself (well, the small ones anyways. I handle things when its a more serious cut/scrape). I just need to figure out how to teach her that not every boo boo needs a band-aid! Oh… and get some more “manly” ones for hubby 🙂
My two year old just noticed the Toy Story Band-Aids while we were at Target the other day. He doesn’t know what they are for quite yet though – I bet he will be demanding them soon!
