One thing I quickly learned after having Abby is that sick days pretty much no longer exist for me. Mommy isn’t allowed to get sick, not when a little one is depending on her! I don’t have the luxury of being able to call in sick, there is no calling in sick when it comes to being Mommy plus my husband has a job that doesn’t really allow him to be able to stay home when I’m sick. That means I not only need to find medicine that will help me get well as quickly as possible but that also won’t make me drowsy during the day while I’m chasing a very active toddler!
Thanks to this insane weather of cold one second, warm the next then cold again I have been dealing with a sore throat, massive headache, runny nose and sneezing my head off. Oh yes, I just feel super awesome let me tell you. I’m achy and miserable trying to fall asleep at night then I wake up miserable wishing I could just hide in bed all day. I don’t have time to be sick, Abby sure isn’t in the mood for me to be sick and my housework isn’t going to wait while I’m sick. I need a good medicine to help me get well quick (or at least feel human enough to make it through the day and help me rest at night).
Lucky for me, Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil gives me the relief I need and helps me make it through my day… and night! I don’t think I slept at all the other night I was so miserable, my nose refused to stop running yet was stopped up at the same time and I was coughing all night long. I was frustrated, irritable and downright whiny cause I was so sleepy, achy and stopped up yet I couldn’t fall asleep. Plus I was worried all my coughing was going to wake up Abby. The next day was torture, that’s when I pulled out the Vicks DayQuil. I normally hate taking anything during the day because I worry about medicine making me drowsy but I had no problems with Vicks DayQuil. I actually felt slightly human! While I wasn’t 100%, it did help relieve my symptoms some and helped me feel a little better so I was able to actually get a little house work done while keeping up with Abby all day. I managed not to cough all day long, I felt like I actually had some energy instead of feeling completely drained and best of all… I wasn’t going through tissues nonstop! Yes, my day definitely went pretty well considering how terrible I felt and how little sleep I got.
As bedtime approached I started feeling the effects of getting no sleep the night before, I knew I had to find a way to get some rest. Since I still had a cough, fever, headache and was starting to sneeze again I decided to take a dose of Vicks NyQuil to help get through the night. Oh my gosh, best night sleep ever since getting sick! I slept so soundly, no coughing and no tossing and turning all night. I woke up to Abby telling me “good morning” and actually felt rested and felt better. Why I put off taking NyQuil to help with my sickness during the night I have no idea, but I definitely took it each night now that I’ve been sick and I’m feeling so much better.

I always tend to put my family’s needs before my own, it’s just part of being a mommy. I do whatever it takes to make sure my family is taken care of, especially when it comes to their health but I have a bad habit of putting myself on the back burner. As a mom I know I can’t take a sick day and that’s why I turn to trusted medicine like Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil. I also make sure to take the extra steps I can to try and prevent myself from getting sick; always washing my hands, avoiding others who are sick, taking vitamins, keeping the house clean and constantly disinfecting, and always using hand sanitizer while out grocery shopping. As a busy mom (or dad) what do you do to avoid getting sick?
Thanks to Vicks DayQuil & NyQuil I’m feeling much better! Now if only I could get this house cleaned and the laundry finished.

I am a stay at home mom to my two-year-old so I completely understand! Being a Mom is a tough job, and being sick makes it even harder!
