I am sad to announce that Abby’s toddler bed sheet did not survive the Invasion of the Tummy Bug. The poor thing had quite a rough time, three days of nonstop sickness plus now a second round… it held on for as long as it could. The sheet already had a few little holes on the corners thanks to the springs at the bottom of her bed so we had to be careful with each wash & change. So many washes and changes all at once was just too much for it. We were already making plans though since we expected this. We considered just getting a couple of new toddler sheets then, after much discussion, decided to go ahead and advance her to a twin size bed. She would be advancing to a bigger bed within a few months anyways so instead of spending money on toddler sheets now and spending more money on bigger sheets in just a few months, we decided to just go ahead with the bigger bed. Her crib/toddler bed actually converts to a full size bed; however, her room is way too small for that so we’ll be going with a twin size for now. We were quite lucky and very blessed to come across a twin bed for her last fall, the mattresses have been camped out in my closet ever since! The bed frame is super cute, a pretty white with adorable little flowers on the headboard. Perfect for my little princess.
Since we are making the switch to her big bed and moving all her toys to the her “playroom”, I think it’s time to really give her a cute bedroom. One thing almost all parents do is decorate a super cute nursery when their little one is born. Well, we didn’t really get to do that. Then we moved shortly after she was born. I did attempt to set up her room while we lived on base, hung a few pictures, but never really decorated and once again we moved. The next house we were at only about three months so of course no decorating there. This house is where we have remained the longest since Abby was born. With all the moving around, she never really got to have that cute, decorated little girl’s room and I plan to do something about that now. With all the moving around of toys and furniture, it’s the perfect time to redecorate and make her room pretty and perfect for a little girl… instead of just looking like a room she’s living in for a short period of time. I’m sure we’ll move again sometime but for now, she’s going to have a big girl room to go along with her big girl bed!
Along with eliminating all the toys and bringing in the new bed, I plan to add lots of fun decor and really make her room special for her. I want it to look like a sweet little girl’s room instead of the box it is now. Since she’s no longer a baby we want to do away with the nursery theme decor and bring in things more suitable for a toddler and that will grow with her for a little while. I have a few wall shelves of course, a few framed pictures but I wanted something really special for my princess.
When I discovered My Wonderful Walls I knew I had found just what I needed to decorate her new room. I was blown away by the amazing selection of wall murals, stencils and even wall stickers available! I was delighted when given the opportunity to partner with My Wonderful Walls for a review and will be sharing with you our decorating experience using one of their amazing wall sticker kits. I’m keeping it a secret right now which one we picked 🙂 you’ll have to check out the review to see Abby’s new big girl room and the beautiful wall stickers from My Wonderful Walls.
For now though… thank goodness for spare sheets! I had to use one of my photography sheets for her bed tonight, she thought it was awesome. I definitely need to get busy tomorrow and finish up cleaning out the office. We have so much to get done this weekend! I know the doctor said to take it easy but I just can’t put things off anymore. I need to get that room picked up and cleaned up, move all my office stuff, move all her toys, set up the “craft” corner and rearrange her room. Then help hubby bring in the new bed, get it set up, wash the new bedding and of course decorate her room! Definitely going to be a busy weekend for us. Better get some rest while I can 🙂
Awe, I hope that she is feeling better. It’s always so hard when your baby is sick because you want them to be instantly better.
The wall decor sounds really cool. We moved our toddler to a big boy bed with new bedding a while ago, but we need to decorate his walls to match the new theme. I’ll check them out.
I hope she gets better soon and has a Happy Easter!
the weekend was spent sick in bed 🙁 a very quiet Easter weekend for us but hopefully the illness is finally gone. I hope you had a wonderful Easter!
I hope you and her both feel better soon! Good luck with redoing the room!
thank you! the weekend was spent sick in bed so her room was put on hold, but so far this week we are finally feeling a little better! Maybe we have finally gotten rid of this dreadful bug and can work on her room this weekend
the big kid bed is a big step 🙂
oh my goodness I know 🙂 I’m excited for her while sad all at the same time lol my baby is growing up so fast! She can’t wait to get her big girl bed set up
oh no poor girl, im glad shes feeling better.
thank you! She is finally feeling better, late Friday night/early Saturday morning she was sick again but that seems to have been the last of it (fingers crossed). I dealt with the illness myself over the weekend so her room had to be put on hold, good news is we are feeling slightly better this week.
