It snowed … in Arkansas… in May.
No, I’m not joking. There are a few places in the northern part of the state that saw up to 5 inches on May 4th. Arkansas rarely sees snow during the winter, let around in May when we’re usually already dragging out the swimming pools. We went from summer dresses and 82 degree weather to cold as can be with temps in the 30’s-40’s. When we woke up that morning for Abby’s appointments, I had no idea what I was going to dress her in. Most of her winter clothes are now too small, her closet fully stocked for Spring and Summer. We usually don’t even need long sleeve shirts after the beginning of March let alone in May! Lucky for me, I hadn’t packed away her favorite Strawberry Shortcake Upcycle dress (or turned it into short sleeves) just yet and I managed to find a pair of leggings that still fit. Paired with her black furry boots and she was all set!
Well… until we walked out the door anyways. Then she got very upset and told me “It’s cold, mommy it’s cold!”. The day was definitely colder than predicted and I hated that she was cold. We made it to her appointment just fine but getting back in the car afterwards she was really unhappy about the cold and I could tell it was getting colder (thanks to the wind). I started searching the car for something that would help when I remembered the Go-Go Blanket we received to review. We reviewed it really quick once already but the weather had been warming up when we received it (crazy, unpredictable AR weather) so I felt like we hadn’t given it a fair try. Today was the perfect day to really put it to test!
I had left it in the van so that we would have it anytime we needed it and I was so thankful I had. I quickly pulled it out and put it on Abby. She was a bit confused at first, why in the world did her blanket have sleeves?! However, once I got it on her and she felt how warm it was she was so happy. Not only had I found a way to keep her warm on such a cold day but it also kept me from running so much heat in the van; I can’t breath well when it gets too warm so I often have trouble keeping it cool enough for me to breath but still warm enough to keep her warm.
She was so cozy that she was asleep before I even got five minutes down the road. I love that the Go-Go Blanket allows me to safely cover her with a blanket and keep her warm while in her car seat but prevents adding unsafe bulk under her straps like a normal blanket or coat would. I especially love that Go-Go Blanket follows federal car seat regulations! Here is some detailed information about Go Go Blankets from the website:
The perfect travel blanket for children…
A Go-Go Blanket is a cuddly, fleece blanket for infants and toddlers (up to size 5) designed to fit over the safety straps in a car seat or stroller. Go-Go Blankets feature sleeves which keep the blankets in place while allowing your child freedom to use his or her hands while secured according to safety regulations. These patented sleeves eliminate the need for snaps, Velcro, or any other fasteners. Arms are free for pacifiers or toys. No more bulky coats in the car! No more blankets which either fall off your child or constrict your child when tucked around them tightly! Your child’s hands are free, but he or she is still cozy, safe, and warm. Best of all, the blankets are easy to remove when you reach your destination, so you no longer have to worry about waking your sleeping child. You and your children will fall in love with the Go-Go Blanket!
All Go-Go Blankets are machine washable and dryer safe.
Instructions For use:
Place child’s arms through Go-Go Blanket* sleeves and place blanket over safety straps. Tuck in at sides for extra warmth.
*Go-Go Blanket follows federal car seat regulations.
One thing I really love about this blanket is that not only is it cozy and keeps her warm on cold days, it also is perfect for late night travel during warmer months. I tend to keep the AC going in the car even at night but often wonder if she gets a little cool as the temperature drops during the night. The Go-Go Blanket is light weight enough that it’ s just right to cover her up with when we’re traveling at night instead of having to disturb her to change her into warmer clothes. This blanket is also great for strollers! Abby doesn’t use her stroller much anymore but I can remember several times when she was little that I wished for a way to tuck a blanket not only around her legs but also around her little arms.
Abby has really taken to her Go-Go Blanket and asks for it quite often. When she’s not using it, she makes sure to cover up her baby dolls in the seat beside her. This is definitely a must have item if you have little ones in carseats. I can see us using this for several years, at least until Abby outgrows it. It is also perfect for when she advances from her car seat to a booster seat! There are so many that worry about keeping their children warm and who often make the mistake of putting a child in a car seat with either a bulky coat on or wrapped in a blanket, some don’t realize how dangerous that is for the child. Go-Go Blanket is the perfect solution to that problem, keeping children safe and warm!

This would be perfect for me! My daughter doesn’t get cold often, and we live in TX, so I don’t like to overdress her in warm clothes, because she gets so hot easily! This would be great in the car! Nothing bulky under the straps to reduce the safety, but enough to keep her warm, and easy to take off, without unbuckling her!
this is awesome and would be so handy when its cold
this is soooo cool! never seen one like it! im in MN, and FREEZE all winter, so this would really come in handy
This is perfect for a chilly day! This way my grandson won’t get cold because I take his jacket off before putting him in his car seat!
