I have been suffering from a terrible migraine for almost two months now, my days are filled with lots of pain and my nights are spent tossing and turning just hoping to get a tiny bit of rest. So far, nothing has helped relieve the pain and I know somethings got to change soon. Not sleeping at night means I’m dragging through the day trying to keep up with Abby while taking care of the house work, running errands and making sure she’s getting to all her appointments. I went to see the doctor about the migraines and neck pain (more on that later) since obviously nothing I was doing was working. Then I decided it was time to solve my problem of waking up with neck pain due to flat, worn out pillows.
While many things are keeping me awake, one of the biggest problems was my current pillow. The poor thing is worn out! I’ve had it for about two years, it is by far my favorite pillow. I’ve searched endlessly trying to find a better pillow; I thought that one of the problems with my neck was lack of a good pillow. Unfortunately for me, every pillow I tried ended up not being the right one for me (yet absolutely perfect for Hubby and Abby!) and I always found myself reaching for ole faithful that I had tossed to the other side of the bed. Each night as I struggle to fall asleep, I flip and rotate my pillow constantly trying to get it just right. It seems to go flat (as in pretty much no longer there) way too easily which leaves me flipping it nonstop until I finally doze off. As you can imagine, all this disrupts my attempts to fall asleep.
I have barely slept any for the past two weeks. I’m exhausted… something has to be done!
Hubby has gone out and purchased me high dollar pillows in hopes to help me sleep better. While these are amazing pillows, they aren’t for me. They seem too hard or too thick for me when I lay on my side. Absolutely nothing was working.
I finally realized that the solution to my problem had been right under my nose the entire time (under my head to be exact)! My pillow, the one I have slept with for two years now, is the perfect pillow for me. It is the right thickness and fluffiness for my liking, it is the best pillow for my headaches… well, it’s perfect when it isn’t so worn out. All I needed to do was hunt down my pillow.
Of course I would run into more problems.
I had no idea what pillow mine was, I couldn’t remember the name of it for anything. I finally took a number off the tag and did a quick Google search. Yay! I found my pillow! But once again, I faced more problems. Seems like my pillow is quite difficult to hunt down for purchase. I found some on different websites but none were my exact pillow. I even ordered one only for it to be the wrong one when it arrived.
Needless to say, I was quite frustrated.
After lots of searching, I finally found my pillow!

The SleepBetter.org website is where I finally tracked down my favorite pillow and I’m so glad I came across this site! SleepBetter.org is a leading sleep tips and information website and I have found it quite helpful here lately as I have struggled to get a good night’s sleep. There is all sorts of great research articles, I found the The Life of a Pillow quite helpful and the SleepBetter Sleepy Parents was interesting. There’s also the fun Zzzzscore quiz which was fun to take, I took it and my score was 3.5 Zzzz Denied. I had a feeling it wouldn’t be all that great. The average for my state, age and gender is 5.3-5.6 so at least I’m not too terribly far off. The great thing is, the SleepBetter.org website has some really helpful sleep tips… I wonder if I could use this as a way to convince hubby to get us a new bed!
With all the trouble I’ve had lately with trying to get some sleep and dealing with such horrible migraines and neck pain, I was delighted to have the opportunity to review the Carpenter’s Co. Beyond Down Synthetic Down Side Sleeper Bed Pillow! I couldn’t wait to finally lay my head on a comfortable pillow again!
When the box arrived I actually had to fight Abby for my pillow, according to her it was for her and she immediately took it to the couch to lay down. I finally managed to get it back at bedtime and try it out. It had been quite some time since I had a new pillow so it took a little getting use to. The pillow had that brand new firmness and it did take me a couple of nights to get use to it. It only took about two nights to get use to the new pillow, after that it felt like I had been sleeping on it always and it definitely felt much better under my aching head. I can’t say I slept better because I’m still having a horrible time sleeping and still have a horrible migraine BUT my neck didn’t hurt so bad and I didn’t wake up with horrible pain unable to move my head like I had several days ago.
For me, the Carpenter’s Co. Beyond Down Synthetic Down Side Sleeper Bed Pillow is the perfect pillow. If you suffer from neck pain, migraines or are just looking for a more comfortable pillow, I highly recommend giving this pillow a try. With my severe migraines and neck pain, this has been the only pillow I could sleep comfortably with and is the only pillow that felt comforting to my throbbing head.
I’m so happy to be able to get some sleep again (when I’m actually able to fall asleep) and not wake up with my neck and heard hurting quite so bad! I have already purchased an additional pillow so I two in new condition, it’s nice to have that second pillow for when I roll a little too far over… finding my head on one of hubby’s flat pillows is not the best start to my morning!
