I tend to think a little outside the box and I knew for Father’s Day, I wanted to get really creative with Hubby’s gift. He had shown interest in this picture with a poem that we found online. Sure, I could have just purchased that but it held no meaning (besides being a sweet Father/Daughter poem). I wanted something more personal, more unique, something that would mean more to him.
Time to get the creative juices flowing…
I knew I wanted to use a picture of him with Abby but since I have so many, I figured it might be easier to find a poem and then decide on a picture. I came across a couple that I liked and searched through all my pictures to find something that went along with the poems. I came up with four pictures that would work. Now for the hard part… narrowing it down to just one!
I picked the picture with their shadows, it is one of my favorites and I love the shadows being part of the picture. For me, it was perfect to go along with the poem.
Here is what I came up with: (not the completed version, I went back and did a little editing)
I couldn’t wait to give it to him!!
Of course, I had to take our tradition Father’s Day picture of Abby. I started this for Hubby’s first Father’s Day; he had to be away for training and I hated that he had to miss his special day. Since he was at training, there wasn’t much I could really do. Then I came up with the idea that since we could give him a card for Father’s Day, we would come up with our own and send it to his phone. I grabbed a piece of stockcard, found a cute “daddy” outfit for Abby and grabbed my camera. I wrote on his “card”, snapped several pictures of Abby with is and sent a couple to his phone. I got a call a little later saying that was the best Father’s Day card ever. I’ve continued the tradition every year, although over the years it has definitely become much harder to get a picture! A baby was much easier to work with than a stubborn three year old! Yes, he expects it every year but he said it’s the best card ever and his favorite. It is also a fun way to see how much Abby has grown each year and see how much her personality has changed!
Here are a few pics of Abby giving her daddy his picture. He LOVED it! Unique gifts that come from the heart, that I work hard on and create just for him mean so much more to him than anything I could ever buy. (for those that might notice, the frame cuts into the picture a bit. I had such a terrible time with Walmart’s online photo system, it no longer lets you recrop to make sure the picture will print properly, that I used Walgreens and still misjudged it a bit. I’ll just reprint, simple as that!)
SURPRISE!
she’s telling him “Best Day Ever!” so cute
For Hubby, it was the best day possible! He got to spend the day at home with his family and we gave him truly unique gifts made just for him. He had a wonderful Father’s Day!
I’m so glad you had a nice Father’s Day with your family! Looked like a special day!
I love the picture and poem you framed! I bet he had a wonderful Father’s Day!
