So I guess I should post a little update on me, now that I have my scan results back and all. I know I’ve been pretty quite here lately and that’s mainly because of how sick I have been. I’ve also had doctor’s orders to take it easy and keep my head propped up. Well, sitting upright at my computer desk doesn’t really allow me to prop my head up so I’ve been stuck lounging on the couch (and as awesome as that might sound, it got really boring really fast. Also quite frustrating since I have a lot to get done around here). Normally being stuck on the couch isn’t a big deal, I would simply pull out my laptop to type up posts as needed. Just my luck, my laptop decided to call it quits. For now all I have is the desktop and just sitting here working for a few hours gets my head to hurting really bad.
My scan results… well, the good news is that they did not show a tumor! (Although I am still worried there is one hiding in there somewhere…) Unfortunately, the scan did show that I have what is called Cavum Septum Pellucidum (yes that is a huge word that I immediately had to google because I had no clue what it was) and within that area I have something that is causing pressure on my brain. The something that is causing the pressure is suspected to be an arachnoid cyst. Of course, once I was told that word I headed right back to google to figure out what exactly I was dealing. What I read didn’t sound all that lovely but it did help explain quite a bit of the symptoms I have been dealing with for several months now.
So the good news is that I now know what I’m dealing with, the not so good news is that it is still something more complicated that just a migraine (what I was really hoping it was).
Next stop – an appointment with a Neurosurgeon. Yippee
I’m glad I know what I’m dealing with but knowing that I have a cyst up there causing pressure on my brain definitely worries me. I was told by the nurse to take it easy and then that same night I got extremely sick vomiting for the entire evening. Yeah, that put quite a bit of pressure on my head and I was worried that I was possibly causing more problems. I’ve been told to rest, take it easy (ha! like that is possible with a three year old), keep my head propped up, limit my salt intact, not to stress too much, mainly keep myself calm and not overly stressed.
My appointment is August 12th, it was the earliest they could get me in. I did get in with my doctor of choice that that is one big plus. Until then, looks like the couch is my best friend. Needless to say I’ll be hunting for more books for my Kindle and taking advantage of my Netflix account.
I guess I need to hunt down a new laptop now. All this time stuck on the couch could be put to much better use if I had a working laptop to help me get my work done.
