I was introduced to Lalaloopsy about two years ago when my niece fell in love with these unique dolls. Lalaloopsy was all she talked about and all she requested for her birthday and Christmas. I purchased the ones she asked for or ones I thought were cute but that was the extent of my knowledge.
Until recently, when Abby saw the Lalaloopsy Movie on Netflix. All of a sudden, she was fascinated. She went from having no idea about these dolls to begging to watch the movie and asking for “loopsy” items. She has two shirts, a dress and even a purse but hadn’t wanted any of the dolls just yet.
Then we went shopping and I told her to pick out a prize for doing such a fantastic job at therapy. She has been doing so well and I wanted to reward all her hard work. Abby has really gotten into playing make believe with all her little figurines, her Little People and Minnie Mouse and even her My Little Pony, so I figured she would pick something like that. We cruised down the toy aisle so she could pick and next thing I know she’s picking out all kinds of Lalaoopsy! Okay, that’s fine, if it is she wants than I have no problem with it. I did limit her to the Minis since she loves her little figurines and we were on a budget (bigger dolls are for bigger occasions). I had a feeling the minis would be perfect for her.
Here is her pick:
She loves her “loopsies” as she calls them and has been requesting more each day.
All of a sudden, we went from loving Mickey & Minnie Mouse to being all about her Lalaloopsy dolls! She plays with these dolls for hours on end and often puts one or two in her purse for when we go to run errands. I enjoy watching her play so happily and love that she’s using her imagination. The little “conversations” her dolls have are so cute, I find myself giggling as I work when she’s in here playing.
She’s even gotten quite creative and created a Merry-Go-Round for her “loopsy” dolls out of her baby ring stacker:
For now we don’t really have a house for the Lalaloopsies so they are bunking with the Fisher Price Little People Disney Princesses in Cinderella’s Castle and have taken over the Calico Critter’s Cottage:
While hubby still thinks the dolls are a little odd, I think they are adorable and Abby absolutely loves them. Of all the things out there for little girls her age, the Lalaloopsy Dolls are one of the best. They encourage imaginative play, allow children to be creative, they are super cute, each has it’s own personality and in the cartoons, they encourage working together/helping friends. Definitely a keeper in my book. I have a feeling Abby’s collection will continue to grow over the next couple of months (even possibly with a big doll for the holidays). For now, we’ll continue to let her pick out a few of the minis as her therapy/potty training rewards.
Sorry for only having cell phone pictures this time, all of these pictures were spur of the moment trying to catch her playing without drawing too much attention to myself. I know… my cell camera isn’t too great but I just had to share the pictures I captured 🙂
Disclosure: I was not asked to write this post nor compensated in anyway. We have a new found love for Lalaloopsy and I thought it would be fun to share. My opinions are my own. If you have any questions you are welcome to contact me.
