Buying a Wayfair Bed for a Teen – Is it Recommended?
As we started our house search last year, one thing Abby most looked forward to was having a new room…
one with a complete makeover to better suit her new “tween” style.
Once we found our new home, she started planning her new decor as her daddy and I packed up the house.
Excited?

And she had every reason to be!
At the old house, her room was still a “little girl” room, plus it had never really been fixed up, no decorations added, it honestly didn’t feel much like a special little space for her.
That was basically the entire house, although we lived there the longest, we never really made it a home. It was just where we lived, our stopping place until it was time to move on.
Now, purchasing our first home means it’s time to make it a home
and that includes creating Abby’s space, her room, her place that reflects her and her personality and it’s a place all her own.
First up
New Bed!
It was decided before we moved that Abby and I both would get new beds. We were both in desperate need of one so instead of moving the old ones, we just did a little online shopping and had things delivered before we moved in.
And while online shopping for a bed for this girl I got my first true dose of shopping for a picky tween
oh
my
I’m doomed
LOL
This girl, she knows exactly what she wants and there is no compromise
she’s quite opinionated
and changes her mind every few days!
The bed she loved Monday was completely different from the bed she picked out Friday and that would be a total opposite of the bed she “must have” on Wednesday.

Eventually she choose her favorite and after confirming at least 5 times that it was still indeed the bed she wanted, I placed the order.
The bed she chose, we found on Wayfair

Manhasset Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Bed
This was my first order with Wayfair and yes, I was slightly nervous ordering furniture online.
Most furniture pieces we own are antiques, solid wood, heavy, passed down in the family, etc.
We did visit several local stores, total waste of time.
None of the local stores had anything we were looking for or if they did, it would be several months before the items would actually be in stock and delivered.
Definitely didn’t have time for that.
So, after several long nights of reading countless reviews, I hit the submit button and my order was placed with Wayfair.
Now the fun part of stressing until it arrived.
Our order actually arrived ahead of schedule, that was a nice surprise and meant the bed was already at the house so we could put it together before the mattress arrived.
I was a little concerned when I saw the box, it was pretty beat up but the bed was okay.
There was a slight moment of confusion of where the rest of the bed was when we first opened the box but then we discovered that most of the bed was stored in the headboard.

Time to assemble!
Putting the bed together was fairly simple, didn’t take my husband much time at all…
which is why I have pretty much no pictures
I wasn’t feeling the greatest when he mentioned putting her bed together and next thing I know, he was done.

He wasn’t thrilled with how the bed was held together and we had to be careful moving it into place.
And once it was where we wanted it, we couldn’t really move it around due to lack of structure support.
Other than than, the color is pretty and the headboard just what my daughter was wanting. It’s padded but firm, and it has a shiny finish more like satin. Slightly more rosey pink than pinky pink

Still a great match for her room’s new theme…
Flamingos!

Stayed tuned for more fun room makeover posts! We have lots to do!
UPDATE:
Although I’m just now posting, I wrote this a few weeks ago. Since then we have noticed some issues with our daughter’s bed frame.
I noticed that the bed was lower to the ground on one side, causing our daughter to always roll to that side of the bed. She’s been complaining that her bed isn’t comfortable while sleeping and I can now see why she’s having trouble.
Seems like the bed doesn’t have enough support and has weak areas causing it to sink and therefore allow the mattress to sink lower on one side.
Since we haven’t had the bed long, I don’t think we should be “fixing” it up already. While I don’t expect it to last forever, I thought for sure we would get more than just a few months use out of it.
We are returning the bed and now on the search…once again…for a twin bed.
Wish me luck…
and send lots of coffee LOL
