Before and After: New Hair!

Our weekend was spent running errands and a special trip to the hair salon! Abby asked me a few weeks ago if she could add a fun color to her hair. Considering her daddy and I both constantly color our hair, we definitely had no problem with her wanting to do something.

We looked through tons of pictures, I explained the process and once I knew she for sure had her mind made up, we set an appointment.

Three hours at the salon, she was a total rock star and did fabulous (with her sensory issues concerning her hair, I was worried but we found an incredible hair stylist that took amazing care of her).

While we waited for her to process, I decided to chop off my long, unruly hair hahaha I haven't cut it in almost two years... it was so long I was able to donate it!!

These are the best BEFORE pictures I could find, totally forgot to take one before the hair transformations haha

As you can see in the after picture, Abby LOVES her new hair! She hasn't stopped smiling, the new color definitely suits her and her personality plus I think it helped boost her confidence so much!

As for me? well... no more messy mom buns every day 😂😂 although I still need to hide those white hairs LOL

I know, I know.... I always say I tend to avoid thrillers and typically I do.
However...
every once in awhile, I stumble upon one that sounds really interesting and I just have to read it. And that's most definitely the case with Pretty Dead Queens. A murdered homecoming queen? A possible copycat killer? A grandmother who is a best selling author? Yep, definitely had to check this one out! Plus, the author said it was a homage to Murder She Wrote so I HAD to read it!

The story follows MC Cecelia as she moves from LA to a small town to move in with her grandmother after her mom passes away. New town, huge old house, grandmother she barely knows... no big deal right? Oh, forgot to mention that although Cecelia doesn't really know her grandmother, pretty much everyone else in town does! Turns out, grandmother is a local celebrity, she's a best selling author of murder mystery books.

And grandmother's first bestseller? A murder mystery about her best friend Caroline's murder... Caroline who was the town's homecoming queen.
Fast forward to present day and suddenly there's another murdered homecoming queen, just as the anniversary of Caroline's murder approaches. A murder that definitely seems a bit too much like the plot (and actual murder) of grandmother's book which means there's possibly a copycat killer.
So Cecelia investigates to try to figure out just who the copycat could be. Add in a mix of murder mystery fans, a few (lying) friends and even a love triangle and it makes an interesting read.
The plot, characters, and mystery were spot on for the majority of the book. There were times it hit a lull a time or two plus I was able to figure things out halfway through the book. I'm not a big thriller fan so for me it was the right amount of "spooky" mystery. Overall an interesting read.

We haven't had a rainy day in forever plus, after two crazy busy days, I could use a lazy day of just reading.

And this book looks like a great rainy/stormy weather book. A huge thank you to @inked_mama_reads for sending me this awesome book back in June. I'm a little behind posting due to being away.

I absolutely love this book!
It truly is adorable!

I love to draw, paint, all things crafty but I struggle when it comes to drawing actual objects. As I continue to work on my designs and graphics, I've started looking for tutorials and books to help me improve. Since my daughter and I both love all things adorable, plus it being part of my drawing style, I was excited when I came across this book.

I think I only got a few pages in before I was totally inspired to draw something and had to grab my tablet. I immediately tried out what the author shared and suggested and have continued referring to the book.

The author keeps things fun and super easy to follow and try. She includes a wide variety of options of what to try, she includes so many examples and the instructions are the best. I have never found a drawing book I enjoyed and got this much out of.

I'm not all that great with it being on Kindle so this is one I absolutely will be purchasing to have on hand to continue using to learn and grow.

I highly recommend this book, especially for those who love to draw adorable like I do! And with such easy to follow instructions, this book is great for all ages!

Since jr. high, I have loved to doodle, especially flowers. But they were always just that, doodles. Which has been great and they are cute and all but now that I'm wanting to do more with my art, I want to find ways to improve. I was ecstatic when I received a copy
from Netgalley to review. I couldn't wait to see what all different flowers were included and attempt to follow the instructions as I improve my drawing.

This book has been fantastic for learning and improving my "doodles", I have learned so much and I definitely feel like my flowers have greatly improved. While I still have much to learn and still need to improve, they are definitely more flower-like than cutesy doodles now.

The art featured within this book is stunning and inspiring, I have enjoyed not only using the book for learning but also just to read and look at all the beautiful art.

The artist, popular Instagram artist Kyehyun Park, provides excellent instructions, breaking things down in easy to follow steps. The techniques used are great for both beginners and those a little more advanced. Thanks to this book, I'm now able to create more realistic flowers and I can't wait to continue learning more.

I love this book and plan to purchase it along with others from the author. Definitely recommend this one for anyone wanting to learn or improve drawing flowers.

When I first came across this book, I was intrigued and knew it was one I wanted to read. Plus, the cover piqued my interest even more. I love sorting through things of the past, remembering memories and stories that each item tells, and often the explanation some provide.

Following the passing of her parents, the author, Linda, returns to her childhood home to sort through all the belongings. Keepsakes, trinkets, everyday items that now must be sorted into anything Linda or her siblings might want to keep. Items that hold memories and stories of the past.

Room by room, item by item, Linda sorts through her parents belongings and begins to attempt to translate true meanings behind the items, the stories the items hold, searching for "why" as well as some piece of evidence that her parents did love her and perhaps a tiny bit of hint as to the reasoning behind their behavior and the way they raised Linda and her siblings.

Among the stories of older days, Linda weaves in tales of her own children and life away from her family. I loved that she included this along with the past stories, it showed just how differently she chose to live and raise her children compared to her own childhood and how her parents raised her. Moving cross country, separating herself from her family and past, Linda chose her own path, she became a successful multilinguist and translator, she raises her own children as a loving parent and choses a better way of life.

Just as Ivy Lodge looked grand from the outside yet told a different story inside, we are reminded that family and life can be complicated and made of so many different layers.

"Adventure Awaits Between the Pages of a Book"

I'm so excited to finally finish this piece ♥ I've worked on it off and on for a few months and finally (maybe) feel it's complete lol (I was "finished" the other day and suddenly decided to completely redo the entire thing for the umpteenth time haha, my mom finally told me to leave it alone but I can't help but see flaws).

So yeah.... I've been spending a lot of time working on my artwork and digital designs lately, I have been having so much fun creating designs for the holidays. This particular piece was an idea I've had for a long time and I'm so happy to be able to create it.
